Tee boxes & fairways in great shape Greens were recently punched but roll very well (9.5-10 on my scale) Very reduced price since greens being punched. They also offered unlimited replays . Very smart business decision. Only played once but a good round of golf. Katrina is running a great course , good value. Reduced price won't last for long

My friends & I played here on 9/3/14. The conditions were deplorable. The tees were pitted, not green and placed in front of trees on several holes. There was water and not sand in the bunkers. Those without water, were hard panned. The fairways were in very poor shape with sitting water in many areas. I realize there is a water shortage in California, but they have small water hazards that they could be using to water the tees & greens. I spoke with other players who agreed with my above information. The powers that be, should be charging much less for conditions that people are paying for & playing on. This is not city owned, but private and the homeowners should be ashamed of themselves. My friends & I will not be returning until they get their act together.

Bottom line: Better courses for less nearby

Front nine is in really bad shape. According to check-in staff, course is undergoing over-seeding process which I was willing to deal with for $50.00. I've played this course numerous times over the past ten years and always enjoyed the challenge the course presents. This time, however, I was truly disappointed. Most fairways are in BAD shape as they are way to wet -- surprising considering the drought conditions. I spoke to one of the Marshalls who indicated the course has been in bad shape for the last four months with no relief in sight!! If you play, don't bring your Sunday best as you will get muddy!

Have played course since its opening. Under new ownership, course has gone consistantly downhill: 1. Fairways are either rockhard or soggy, depending on hole. 2. Tee boxes are rough (at best) 3. Groundskeeping crew have torn course up with equipment - have no regard for damage done around teeboxes and cart paths. 4. Overseeding made course worse 5. Sand traps crusty 6. No apparant effort to "marshall" course. Slow play is not a corrective issue 7. Carts are dirty and trashy 8. No clubhouse - sold off to catering entity and tiny snack bar left for players Other than that course has potential to be best in the county with a little bit of knowledge and TLC. Staff is great, but limited in scope of what they can do.

The is a hidden gem in terms of layout and views. Beautiful. I've loved playing this course since it opened in 1999. The problem is the new owner refuses to spend $ on the fairways and tee boxes and they are in terrible condition. Fairways are hardpan often with little grass under the ball. They took one of the best clubhouse/bar setups around and made it off limits to golfers! For banquets only. Golfers are herded into a small patio enclosure. The greens are in good shape and fun to put on but the fairways are worse than local munies. An embarrassment for a course of this caliber. It is sad what has happened to this course.

I've been playing Sterling Hills regularly since the course opened. In the beginning, this was the best course in their price range in the area. Over the past few years, the course has continued to degrade with the conditions in October being the worst ever. I will wait a long time before playing here again in hopes that they will be able to salvage what was once a beautiful course.

Course is challenging for any double digit handicapper. If you're a senior (age 55+) you get a break on green fee/cart during the week. The staff are professional and friendly. Restaurant has great food, but at this writing they might have changed their format (banquet only) which is a shame. Two-somes can go out and have a great pace of play and really enjoy this course.
